The AP 7 (formerly A37).

The AP 7 route is longer than the N332 route to the Villamartin area in Distance and the time it takes to travel to the apartment in the late hours will be roughly the same. You encounter two tolls from the Airport which will set you back about €2.00 in low season or €3.00 high season each time. In the peak season I would say you would be well advised using the AP 7 even though the distance is probably 10 miles longer. The time it would take on the N332 in the peak months during the day would be a lot longer.

A very important point to remember is that in my opinion the AP 7 is a safer Road as it is dual carriage way and does not have all the twists and turns of the N332 which in the dark can be dangerous. When leaving from Alicante Airport follow the blue signs to Murcia (A7 - E15, go straight ahead to blue motorway signs when leaving airport) and leave the E15 A 7 after you reach the AP 7 sign posted Torrevieja. The first toll is after junct. 751 going south on the AP 7. You will then exit at the sign of La Zenia at Jct. 763 where you have to pay the second toll. When you exit the toll you will be on the south side of the roundabout so take the last exit over the bridge to get to Villamartin. You will notice the Road below you is the one you have just been on when you are on the bridge. Total journey time from my experience is 35 - 40 minutes even in peak season during the day. Please remember that when you go back to the airport using this route to get off at Junct 72 and there is a sharp give way sign as you leave junction 72, in other words slow right down when getting off at Junction 72 and give way if you cannot join the Airport Road via the filter Road immediately.

N332 from Alicante Airport

When you exit Alicante Airport you will turn right when leaving and initially follow the signs for Alicante and Cartegena. Within approx. two thirds of a mile follow the signs for Cartegena and not Alicante as they are in different directions. After approx. 50kms turn right. Total journey time of 40 minutes in quiet time to 1 1/2 hours in peak season. Please note that there seems to be a new roundabout every time I go on the N332, and there were 4 roundabouts the last time I updated this map towards the end of 02, could be more now.

From Murcia San Javier Airport (ryanair.com from Stanstead and bmibaby.com)

This is the best journey of all so if you can get a cheap ticket then fly here. At exit of Airport turn left and after half a mile, you will see sign for AP 7 Alicante, follow these signs. Follow signs for Alicante on the AP 7 where you will eventually exit at La Zenia junction 763, where you pay the toll and take the last exit over the bridge. Total journey time of 20 minutes to door of apartment. The only point to note is when you join the AP 7, there is a sharp 'give way' Road before you join it. So slow right down and mph and be prepared to stop if traffic is coming. IN Spain you are expected to give way at what we in UK would call filter Roads.

AP7 to Vera.(Nothing to do with my apartment really but good info for those that need it).

This is just info for other people that may want information about this new Road from Cartegena to Vera. You join the Road on the AP7 at junction 815 to Vera. The toll is €12.00 and it is a direct route that cuts through the mountains and is a very quick easy drive. When I was on this Road of roughly 100 kms I only saw another five vehicles. Probably saves 45 minutes or so than going on the C3319. Other than the time it saves the other benefit is that it is a relaxing drive and it is impossible to get lost when you are on it. When you get to Vera at the end of the AP7 there is the toll, which joins the A7 E15 at junction 534.
